Poor connectivity and network problem is hampering the growth of state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) when it comes to customer base in Kashmir as subscribers are switching over to other services.
Subscribers from different parts of Valley complain that persistent poor connectivity and network problem has become nuisance for them.

Subscribers from Shivpora, Sonawar, Dalgate, Soura, Rajbagh, Bhagat Barzulla, Hyderpora and other areas are most affected by the erratic signal of BSNL.
“We as loyal subscribers of BSNL fail to understand as to why the Nigam is not improving upon its connectivity and network problem which is irritant to us and is least concerned about improving its services by taking necessary measures,” said Abdul Rashid Dar, a resident of Shivpora.
“Persistent poor network signal in our area has rendered the mobile phones almost useless, as one finds it very difficult to either receive or make a call from a BSNL number,” Ajaz Ahmad , a Soura resident said.
At Shivpora, residents complain that whenever the electricity goes off there is severe connectivity problem in the area. “It’s because of the electricity to tower gets snapped and the generator supplying power to it is non-functional,” said Arshad Ahmad, a resident.
“Our whole business is based on the mobile, we have to make calls and receive, but poor service by BSNL has severely affected our business. As we are not able to receive or make calls to our customers,” said a travel agent at The Boulevard.
According to subscribers even when there is full signal, on dialing a number one gets to hear ‘network is busy’.
The subscribers of are also complaining that connectivity between BSNL cell phones and Landline is very dismal.
“It has become very difficult to make call from mobile to landline, as it mentions that the number is busy,” said Imran Ahmad.
They are alleging that BSNL custom care hardly redress their problems.
“My SIM got damaged, I called the customer care of BSNL  and asked them about the procedure of how to get duplicate one. But they did not provided any information, it was very bad on their part,” Abdul Hamid said.
Despite repeated attempts to contact BSNL officials proved futile.
