Tuesday, April 17, 2012:  It's pay back time! Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is set to take it hard on the defaulters devouring the company's money for over a decade. According to a senior BSNL officer, 110 million has to be recovered from lease lines, out of which 60 million is due on private telecom players and 70 million from the customers who have used landline, WLL and cell phone services.

In the beginning of the year, BSNL had approached The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) claiming that the private telecom operators, Bharti Airtel, Idea, Tata and Aircel, were offering 3G services by misleading people with illegal agreements.

Also, last year BSNL had blocked services to private telcos over pending dues, which were later resumed after TRAI stepped-in. BSNL has been on its toes trying hard to recover the dues. Even a team of 30 members went door to door asking the defaulters to pay their dues.

Reportedly, the company recovered a sum of Rs 32.88 crore in the financial year 2010-11. This year, it's wasting no time in pressurising the telecom companies to pay their dues soon.
